Serving in youth ministry and hanging out with middle and high schoolers is one of the things he is most passionate about.  Some other things he enjoys are outdoor adventures, sports and music.

Roger Olson

Pastor Roger Olson began his ministry at Living Faith in September 2019. He has served as pastor to congregations in Minnesota and Alberta and most recently as Regional Pastor for the Church of the Lutheran Brethren Canada.  He and his wife, Carol have four children and five grandchildren.

Roger is energized by the opportunity to preach and teach, and loves one-on-one conversations over a good cup of coffee. He also enjoys reading, detective shows, and a good renovation project.

How it all started...

A heartfelt vision for the people of this community by Pastor Burton Bundy (deceased) and some local residents was the initial start for a Lutheran Brethren church in Watford City, ND.  After a citywide meeting in the summer of 2009, it was decided to hold the first meeting in October.  An agreement was made with the First Presbyterian Church to use their facilities until we were established with a home of our own.  Just before the startup, Pastor Bundy became ill and we were left with a major decision to make.  A group of 13 met together and after prayer decided to go ahead.  We named the endeavor Living Faith, knowing that is what it would take to make it happen.  A pastor was called in the summer of 2010, after many months of filling the pulpit with pastors and lay pastors from around the area.  Three acres were donated to Living Faith, just west of Watford City to build a church on.  In May 2014, construction began on the site.  The grand opening and dedication service was held on October 17, 2015.

The church is outreach focused and very involved in the community, including serving at the Good Shepard Home, reaching out to elementary age kid's with our Faith Finders Ministry and lending help to other local area ministries and Chamber of Commerce events throughout the year.
